SEAPORT

SEAPORT

Self-repairable and resistant asphalts for harbours.

Total budget: 807.076 €
Description:
The objective of this project is the development of new bituminous mixtures that allow the rehabilitation of port terminals to be carried out, with features such as resistance to the stresses transmitted by vehicles with high loads at low speeds, resistance to strong contact pressures (both dynamic impact and static punching), resistance to high shear stresses due to the sudden rotation of heavy machinery, etc., so that they can be used as an alternative to the concrete with metallic fibres that are currently used.
In addition, this material must have a self-repairing capacity (self-healing) so that the effects on port traffic due to pavement maintenance operations are kept to a minimum.

The development of the research project has been carried out within the framework of the SEAPORT project (RTC-2015-3742-4), financed by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, and co-financed by the ERDF Funds, within the national plan RETOS-COLABORACIÓN 2015.
